It can be hard for me to fully appreciate the present moment when things like my career, dreams, music and relationships come to mind. But there are few things in life that really let you hit pause: the view at the top of a mountain; a soothing sunset; the smile of a stranger; a bittersweet song; the voice or laugh of someone you love.
I’ve always believed in the power of your own health to make you better prepared for each day to come, which is why I have taken such a focus to my fitness (you feel best when you’re at your best, yeah?). But as everything takes time, commitment and focus, balance is everything.
I wrote this song late last summer during a quiet moment with my guitar. It was probably after a zombie-eyed morning of work and I had the next day to myself. The image of someone new came to mind. And so did the anxious feelings of what was to come with that.
I’ve been trying to keep up with my new video once every two weeks, and nothing I recorded sat well with me. So I decided to record a simple demo of an original… It’s a start!
Let me know your thoughts. I’d love to hear ’em.
I’ve been searching for a reason to love
It has nothing to do with your kind
You’ve unlocked a feeling in me
I don’t give my heart out to anyone
Everybody has a problem with themselves
And I’m not yours to fix
You have seen me in all my mess
But I will let you in, if you promise me
That when I wake up in the morning
Will your eyes stay locked on mine
And when I walk out of the door
Will you trust there’s no one else in store
For me, but you
With love and honesty,
